HBO GO is an on-demand streaming service that allows HBO TV/HBO GO subscribers to enjoy thousands of hours of exciting content over multiple devices, anytime, anywhere.

From exclusive HBO and HBO Asia original series, movies and documentaries, to Hollywood blockbusters, Asian dramas and movies, and even an extensive selection of kids-friendly content, there’s just something for everyone!

We add new movies and series episodes to HBO GO every single week throughout the year. You can even enjoy the newest HBO Original series episodes the same time as it premieres in the U.S!

5) Is HBO GO available in other countries?

In Asia, HBO GO is available in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Philippines and Singapore.

6) Who has access to HBO GO?

7) How much is HBO GO?

With no minimum-period subscription contracts, you can subscribe to HBO GO in Singapore at SGD$13.98 per month

8) What do I need to sign up for an account directly with HBO GO?

To sign up and subscribe directly with HBO GO, you will only need

  • A valid email address
  • A valid iTunes and Google Play account with active payment method

9) How do I sign-up for HBO GO?

You can subscribe to HBO GO using the following methods:

  • Directly through HBO GO apps (only in Singapore)
  • Through StarHub
  • Through Singtel

Subscribe with HBO GO

You can subscribe directly with HBO GO now and use iTunes or Google Play to pay for your subscription.

If you are an iOS or Android user, just follow these easy steps and you can start streaming on HBO GO in no time!

  • 1. Download HBO GO from iTunes or Google Play stores
  • 2. Register for your HBO GO account in the app
  • 3. Select your plan (monthly or annual)
  • 4. Pay with your iTunes or Google Play account

Do not worry about renewing your subscription manually every month. The subscription plans are automatically renewed monthly and will be billed through your iTunes and Google Play account.

Subscribe through StarHub

If you are a StarHub customer but do not have an eligible HBO TV subscription, you may subscribe to HBO GO as a standalone streaming service by adding HBO GO subscription to your existing StarHub bill.

If you are a StarHub customer with HBO TV subscription, you will be able to enjoy HBO GO on your smart devices by subscribing to the StarHub TV Go value-added service at $2 per month (U.P. $5.35/month). To subscribe to StarHub TV Go value-added service, go to www.starhubgo.com/packs.

All StarHub users will be required to have a Hub iD to access HBO GO. If you do not have a Hub iD, visit StarHub’s website to get one now.

Subscribe through Singtel

If you are a Singtel customer but do not have an eligible HBO TV subscription, you may subscribe to HBO GO as a standalone streaming service by adding HBO GO subscription to your existing Singtel bill.

10) What do I need to know if I pay for my HBO GO subscription through iTunes or Google Play?

Paying with iTunes

A couple of things to note if you choose to pay for your subscription with iTunes:

  • You will need a valid Apple ID
  • You will need to link valid payment methods (ie. Credit or debit cards) or have sufficient funds in your iTunes account. To find out what payment methods are available for iTunes, you may visit Apple’s support website for more information.
  • Subscription is billed automatically on a monthly recurring basis
  • You may only cancel your subscription through iTunes. Click here to find out how to cancel.

Paying with Google Play

A couple of things to note if you choose to pay for your subscription with Google Play:

  • You will need a valid Google account on Google Play

11) How do I cancel my HBO GO subscription?

We hope you’ll never find a reason to leave HBO GO. But if you really, really need to cancel your subscription, here’s what you should do:

If you have subscribed using iTunes

  • Go to Settings on your iOS device
  • Select your name (You must be signed in with the Apple ID that is used to pay for your HBO GO subscription)
  • Go to iTunes & App Stores
  • Select your Apple ID
  • Select ‘View Apple ID’ (You may be required to sign in)
  • Go to Subscriptions
  • Select HBO GO
  • Select ‘Cancel Subscription’
  • Select ‘Confirm’

If you cancel your subscription, access to HBO GO will cease only at the end of the current billing cycle.

If you have subscribed using Google Play

  • Go to Google Play Store on your Android Device (You must be signed in using the Google account that is used to pay for your HBO GO subscription)

  • Select Cancel Subscription again to confirm

If you cancel your subscription, access to HBO GO will cease only at the end of the current billing cycle.

12) How can I check my subscription status?

You can check your subscription status on iTunes or Google Play Store.

If you have subscribed using iTunes

  • Go to Settings on your iOS device

17) Can I use HBO GO if I don’t have any subscription?

Non-subscribers can browse the HBO GO catalogue and watch trailers and promotional videos without an account.

You can sign-up for HBO GO to unlock the thousands of hours of content in a few simple steps. Check out Question 9 to find out how.

18) Will I be able to access HBO GO while travelling outside my territory?

You will only have access to HBO GO within the country where your subscription is based in. However, you can make use of the Download function to download your favourite series and movies before your trip and watch them offline while you are overseas!

19) Why should I use HBO GO if I am already a HBO TV subscriber with StarHub?

First of all, it’s time to bring your binge-watching activities out of home and watch your favourite series and movies anytime, anywhere!

Also, HBO GO is a free* service for StarHub TV subscribers of the following eligible packs: The HBO Pak, Supreme Box Office Pack or Movies d’Lite Pack.

*Additional charges by the operator may apply. Existing StarHub TV subscribers must activate StarHub TV Go value-added service to use HBO GO.

20) What do I need to access HBO GO if I am already a HBO TV subscriber with StarHub?

If you are an active StarHub subscriber with the following eligible packs: The HBO Pak, Supreme Box Office Pack or Movies d’Lite Pack, check that you have the following to enable access to HBO GO:
  • Hub ID and password
  • StarHub TV Go value-added service

If you do not have a Hub ID, visit StarHub’s website to create one now.

23) What happens if I forget my Hub ID or Password?

If you forget your Hub iD or password, click the “Forgot Hub iD” button or “Forgot Password” button on the StarHub login page, and follow the instructions to reset the information.

26) What do I need to access HBO GO if I am already an HBO TV subscriber with Singtel?

If you are an active Singtel subscriber with the HBO Pak, check that you have the following to enable access to HBO GO:
  • NRIC/FIN number
  • Singtel TV number

27) How do I access HBO GO if I am already a valid HBO TV subscriber with Singtel?

If you are a valid HBO TV subscriber with Singtel, follow these steps to start streaming on HBO GO

28) How do I access HBO GO if I subscribed through Singtel CAST?

If you have subscribed to HBO GO through Singtel CAST, follow these steps to start streaming on HBO GO

  • Select Singtel as your operator. You will be directed to Singtel’s login page.

29) What happens if I forget my CAST ID password?

If you forget your CAST ID password, click the “Forgot Password” button on the Singtel CAST login page, and follow the instructions to reset the information.

30) If I have subscribed to HBO GO through Singtel, who do I contact if I am facing issues with my account?

31) Can I update the email address for my HBO GO account?

Yes, you can. Here are the steps to update your email address:

  • (On Web) Click on your name / (On Mobile) Click on Settings in the Menu
  • Select Profile
  • Update your email address and click Save.

32) What happens if I forget my password?

We know this happens to everyone, and we are here to help! Follow these easy steps to reset your password:

  • Select Sign In on your web browser or in the Menu bar within the application
  • Select Forgot Password
  • An email will be sent to you with instructions to reset your password.

33) How many devices can I link to my HBO GO account?

You can link up to 5 registered devices to your account (subject to 2 concurrent streams). Web browsers are counted as individual devices.

34) How can I manage my registered devices (add/edit/delete)?

To add a new device, simply sign in to HBO GO and it will automatically add to your list of registered devices.

To edit or remove a registered device, simply follow these steps:
  • (On Web) Click on your name / (On Mobile) Click on Settings in the Menu
  • Select Device Management
  • Edit the name of a registered device or delete a registered device
  • Click Save

Note: In the event that you reach the maximum device limit, you may only replace a registered device once per month.

35) What happens if I exceed the maximum number of registered devices?

If you exceed the maximum number of registered devices, you will be prompted to delete an existing device when you are signing in with the new device.

36) Can I choose to opt-in or opt-out to receive communications from HBO GO?

We highly recommend that you opt in to get the latest updates on HBO GO. But you have the option to change your preference anytime.

  • (On Web) Click on your name / (On Mobile) Click on Settings in the Menu
  • Select Profile
  • Update your preference and click Save.

PARENTAL CONTROL AND CONTENT CLASSIFICATION

37) What is Parental Control for and how does it work?

We have Parental Control in place to ensure that children are not exposed to content that are not suitable for their age when they use HBO GO. The Parental Control feature is controlled by a 4-digit pin and different levels of restriction: General (G), Parental Guidance (PG), PG13, NC16, M18, R21.

In Singapore, it is mandatory to set Parental Control for streaming services. When you first sign up for HBO GO, you will be asked to set a Parental Control pin and select the level of restricted content (default selection is R21).

After setting your Parental Control pin, you will be asked to enter the pin whenever you play a content that is equivalent to or exceeds the restricted level.

38) Can I change / reset my Parental Control pin?

You may change or reset your 4-digit pin under Parental Control in the Settings Menu

39) Is all the content on HBO GO rated, and what are the content advisories available?

All the content on HBO GO has a content rating. Ratings can be viewed on each detail page and content advisories will be displayed before each HBO GO programme.

These are the various ratings and advisories that are applicable in Singapore:

For R21 programmes, ratings, advisory message (stating the principal elements which have contributed to the classification) and copyright protection warning will be displayed before each programme. Viewer discretion is advised and parental pin entry is mandatory.

40) Can I watch a live broadcast of any of the HBO channels via HBO GO?

Yes, we offer streaming of Live TV channels on HBO GO. Please select “Live TV” to be able to watch live streams of any of the HBO channels – HBO, HBO Hits, HBO Signature, HBO Family, Cinemax, Red by HBO.

41) Can I watch shows and movies on HBO GO in HD?

HBO GO offers HD content as long as it is made available by the content provider.

Do note that the quality of content is automatically optimized to your bandwidth availability to provide a better continual playback experience. If you are experiencing poor quality playback, please refer to Question 55 for required bandwidth and Questions 53-54 for device compatibility requirements.

42) Are subtitles and dual language offered on HBO GO?

Subtitles are available for on-demand content and Live TV channels.

Multiple audio language tracks are available for select content.

43) Can I watch HBO GO on multiple devices at the same time?

Yes! As a valid HBO GO user, you can enjoy 2 concurrent streams (subject to 5 registered devices) per account.

44) Is it possible to watch HBO content on one device and then continue viewing the same content on another device?

There is a feature called ‘Video Continuity’ that allows you to continue from where you left off when you switch devices.

Simply go to Continue Watching to find all the videos that you have started on.

45) How does the Watchlist work?

The Watchlist allows you to create a personalized list of shows or movies you want to watch while they are available on HBO GO. Once you find a show or movie you want to watch, select “Add to Watchlist” on your device. You can add an unlimited number of titles and, from your computer, sort them by release date or title. The items in your Watchlist will remain the same, even when you log in to HBO GO from a different device. Shows will remain in your Watchlist until you remove or delete them, or when they expire.

46) I added shows to my Watchlist but they're not there anymore. What happened?

Shows are automatically deleted from your Watchlist once the content license expire.

47) Can I watch HBO GO on TV?

While HBO GO is designed to allow you to watch your favourite HBO shows on the go, you can make use of the Airplay and Chromecast functionality to cast the shows to TV screens.

We are also working to bring the HBO GO large screen applications to your TV screens. Stay tuned!

48) How does the Download feature work?

You can now watch your favourite HBO original content on the go without an Internet connection.

Click on the Download icon to start downloading. You are recommended to download the content over a Wi-Fi network to minimize data usage.

You may download up to 20 pieces of content in total across your registered devices. Each piece of content can be downloaded up to two times a month.

Downloaded content will expire 28 days after download or 48 hours after you pressed play.

49) Is all the content on HBO GO available for download and offline viewing?

All HBO original content and selected movie content are available for download. Certain movies are not available for download as the studios do not allow.

50) Why am I unable to access the Download Feature?

Your device operating system may not support the download function.

51) Why am I unable to download the content that I want?

It may be due to one of the following reasons:

  • a) Studio rights do not permit the content to be available for download.
  • b) Download rights for the content have expired.
  • c) Your device has reached its storage limit.
  • d) You have downloaded 20 pieces of content (either on one device or across multiple registered devices).
  • e) You have exceeded the number of downloads permitted for each piece of content. Each piece of content can be downloaded up to two times a month.

52) Can I log in to my device with another account and still watch my downloaded content?

Your downloaded content will be deleted from the device if another account is used to log in on the same device.

*Users on Android 8.0 may encounter issues with downloading content. We are working on a resolution. Android users are recommended to update to Android 8.1 for better download performance.

55) What is the minimum speed of internet connectivity required to run HBO GO?

The minimum required bit rate is 512kb/sec. (Please note that with a lower connection speed, the video quality will be less desirable). We employ an adaptive streaming technology that automatically matches your broadband speed and the bit rate of the videos.

58) What is the difference between HBO GO and HBO On Demand?

HBO GO is available on web and mobile devices. When you use HBO GO, you can choose from a wider selection of Hollywood Blockbusters and HBO movies, series and other programming that will remain on the service and added on as and when they become available. With HBO GO, you can watch your favourite shows and movies anytime, anywhere

The HBO On Demand service is only available via the set-top-box. The content selection on HBO On Demand is updated regularly.

59) Why is the content on HBO GO different in Asia as compared to the U.S?

Due to content rights, you may be seeing different licensed content on HBO GO Asia and HBO GO U.S.
However, you can still enjoy the same HBO Originals on both platforms!

60) Does HBO use or share my account information?

Your privacy is very important to HBO. Our Privacy Policy is openly available and accessible to everyone from the menu

61) I do not see the option to purchase or subscribe for HBO GO via iTunes or Google Play on my app. What should I do?

If you do not see the Subscribe option, you may not have the latest version of our application for the Singapore market. We have recently upgraded our mobile apps. Go to the App Store or Google Play Store to check that you have the latest version of the app. If you are using an older version, follow the steps for your device below to delete and reinstall the HBO GO app.

  • 1. Delete the existing application from your device
  • 2. From the Home screen, tap the App Store icon
  • 3. Search for HBO GO in the App Store
  • 4. Click "Get" to install the app to your device
  • 5. Enter your iTunes password, if prompted
  • 6. Complete your app download and launch the app

[Android]

  • 1. Go to the Google Play Store on your deivce
  • 2. Update your application to the latest version

62) What should I do if my HBO GO app keeps crashing?

If the HBO GO app crashes or closes and takes you back to the device menu screen, you may not have the latest version of our application for the Singapore market. We have recently upgraded our application.

Go to the App Store or Google Play to check that you have the latest version of the app. If you already have the latest version, please contact our friendly customer support team for further assistance. If you are using an older version, follow the steps for your device below to delete and reinstall the HBO GO app.

[iOS]

  • 1. Delete the existing application from your device
  • 2. From the Home screen, tap the App Store icon
  • 3. Search for HBO GO in the App Store
  • 4. Click "Get" to install the app to your device
  • 5. Enter your iTunes password, if prompted
  • 6. Complete your app download and launch the app

[Android]

  • 1. Go to the Google Play Store on your deivce
  • 2. Update your application to the latest version
